Medical Professionals and Students Mentoring and Guiding Inner City Students in STEM and Medicine

The Solution: Our Mission Statement
Medicine for Education’s sole purpose is to bridge the gap between education and medicine and to focus on the character development of student physicians and the character and academic development of under-served high school students interested in medical profession
OUR LATEST EVENTS
Mentoring on December 17, 2016
High School students came to Philadelphia College of Osteopathic medicine's anatomy lab top learn about arteries and veins.
Mentoring Meeting December 8, 2016
High School students came to Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine's to be mentored and encouraged by student physicians while learning about dermatology
What is the problem?: The STEM education Gap
In the inner city there are a lack educational opportunities and exposure to STEM careers and resources for our students. Students in these communities that wish to achieve goals such as becoming physicians are hindered as under-served populations are not prepared for a career in medicine.
“Because of Medicine for Education, my mentors, and my teachers who have exposed me to so many different possibilities for a career in the medical field I was finally able to create and set goals for myself; and honestly I don't think I could have done it without them."- Summer B., Girls High
